James Buchanan receipt and letter, 1808, 1847.

Receipt lists Buchanan's expenses for books, June 18, 1808. On the verso is a list of charges to various individuals "for fines," "for last session," "for not debating," "for entrance," or "for not showing composition," of unclear origin, possibly from the Dickinson College library. Autograph letter signed from James Buchanan to James B. Lane, relating to arrangements for sending Harriet Lane to Georgetown, April 13, 1847.
